KATHERINE the SHREW as the PAGE OF WANDS
Katherine "the Shrew" stands in her teenage bedroom, surrounded by her plants and rock posters, a drum kit in the corner. She wears a Joan Jett and the Blackhearts concert tee and holds a wooden drumstick—and the gaze of the viewer. Her youth and punk attitude reflect the spark of potential and raw authentic expression represented by the Page of Wands card.
MACBETH'S WITCHES as the THREE OF CUPS
In the shadows and sparkle of a (literally) underground rave, three trans women dance ecstatically and with total freedom around a bubbling cauldron as the sun rises on the horizon and the fog machine manifests a shadowy Hecate: goddess of witches, the crossroads and in-between spaces, and protectress of the marginalized and othered.
CARD 9: HAMLET as THE HERMIT
Like the solitary figure seen in the traditional Rider Waite tarot card, our Hermit Hamlet walks a lonely, dark road. Their “lantern” uncovers only the next few steps in front of them, while the dark, impenetrable woods surrounding this single small figure evoke the "undiscovered country" that Hamlet imagines awaiting him after death.
